The European School Energy Challenge 2012

The European U4energy competition was a unique opportunity for teachers and pupils to learn about energy efficiency by performing short and long term actions to help reduce daily consumption. Making better decisions about the way they used energy helped them save on bills and reduce their carbon footprint to help build a more sustainable future.

Schools had the choice between three competition categories:

Category A: Best energy efficiency measures

Category B: Best teaching actions on efficient energy use

Category C: Best school campaign on energy efficiency

Awards and prizes took place at two levels, National and European.

The UK National winners are:

Category A:        Okehampton College, Okehampton, Devon

Category B:         Ashley C of E Primary School, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey

Category C:         Landscove C of E Primary School, Newton Abbott, Devon

A gallery of all the competition entries is available here.

All winners will assemble in Brussels on 26 November to receive their awards.

U4energy is a European Commission initiative funded through the Intelligent Energy Europe programme.
