Manchester Development Education Project, in partnership with the Science Learning Centre North West and Manchester Metropolitan University, are developing and accrediting an exciting new CPD course on climate change. This course will equip teachers with knowledge and skills to effectively teach about climate change, explore the evidence for climate change, analyse different viewpoints and make links between science and society and introduce methodologies suitable to investigating complex controversial issues with pupils.
Participants will be introduced to a variety of practical activities related to climate science, and will be encouraged to explore their use as classroom experiments and demonstrations. Participants will also explore the use of several participatory teaching and learning tools and techniques in classrooms, particularly in relation to the discussion of controversial issues.
The dates for the next delivery of this course are 29 April (10am - 4pm), 19 May (1:30pm - 6:30pm) and 8 July (1:30pm - 6:30pm).
Participants who are unable to attend all workshops are welcome to attend either day one or day two separately.
