Rolls-Royce Science Prizes

Every year, Rolls-Royce Science Prize gives away an array of fantastic prizes, among them £15,000 for the winner, £10,000 for the runner up and £5,000 for the 9 finalists. There are also 50 Special Merit Awards of £1,000 for teams that are commended by the judges.

Every school that enters has a chance of winning. Proposals don't have to be high-tech or expensive. Judges are looking for innovative projects that engage students and spark their interest in science. For example, Astwood First School in Redditch proposed the development of an environmental science programme that integrates science, numeracy, ICT, geography and citizenship for all our pupils and the community. The proposal is one discrete part of a larger scale project to produce a sustainability centre for the pupils and the community by monitoring the weather through a weather station and webcam and by raising awareness of climate change and the benefits of sustainable living through creating a renewable energy and water efficiency centre.

Maybe your school has a sustainable energy project that would benefit from support from Rolls-Royce. If you are interested and would like more details visit http://science.rolls-royce.com/index.php
