On the 26th January a search was started for youngsters to become climate champions as part of the Government's climate change communications initiative.
The competition - Climate Change Champions 2006 - will find 9 winners who will act as voices for climate change in their local communities across England. Each winner will spend a year 'in office' spreading the word to their region through various activities as well as engaging in a fact-finding tour to Switzerland to see the effects of climate change first hand.
The competition is open to all 10-18 year olds. Entrants will be required to submit their own communication about climate change to Defra, together with why they believe they should be selected as a champion.
